Like its washed counterpart, this naturally processed Hambela is sourced from METAD, a third-generation family-owned business managed by Aman Adinew. Aman spent many years working abroad for multiple fortune 500 companies and returned home to Ethiopia, hoping to make a difference for his family and his community. Under his leadership, METAD has strengthened the local community, providing employment opportunities, including a workforce that is over seventy percent women. As well as providing employment, they have given educational opportunities, scholarships, sponsored an elementary school that has more than 700 students, provided healthcare for their employees, as well as a cervical cancer screening program for women in the coffee-growing communities. METAD also has the first and only private SCAA-certified coffee quality control lab in Africa used to train domestic and international coffee professionals!
