Lenana is named after the area around Mount Kenya in which this coffee comes from. Smallholder farms contribute their production to several quality focussed mills in the area.
Ripe cherries are picked and delivered on the same day. The coffees are sorted at the wet mill before being processed in the typical Kenyan process before drying. The dried beans are then further sorted at the Dry mill based off of screen size. AA is the largest size, with AB being slightly smaller. It is arguable which is considered the better quality it is simply a screen size designation.
The varieties grown in Kenya are the main reason why the coffee has its distinctive fruity flavour.
